Facebook recently rolled out a new product that allows companies to post job openings directly to their Facebook page.
What does this mean for job seekers?
Job postings are visible to anyone visiting a company’s Facebook page, and also appear in the newsfeed of users who have ‘liked’ the page. Potential candidates can begin the application process directly via the beloved ‘Apply Now’ button. The auto-fill feature then pulls personal information directly from the user’s Facebook profile, while providing the option to edit their information within the application.
What does it mean for the advertiser?
Advertisers can easily track and manage applications directly through Facebook. All applications are exported to the company’s business page through Facebook Messenger. They are now able to boost the visibility of job postings and respond to them via Facebook Messenger. That being said, current privacy settings remain — only the information candidates have made public will be viewable.
This is not currently an enterprise solution, as each post is created manually and Facebook is not offering an ATS integration option at this time. However, there are options available to highlight specific jobs on Facebook, that may perform well when using this feature.
Facebook is still a relatively untapped job market, so this new feature presents a new opportunity for companies to build a powerful employer brand NOW, before businesses shift to this recruitment platform on a larger scale.
